Mount Kigali University (MKUR)

Overview

Mount Kigali University (MKUR) is a private higher education institution located in Gatenga Sector, Kicukiro District, Kigali, Rwanda. The institution was established in Rwanda in 2010 as a campus of Mount Kenya University and became an autonomous university under the name Mount Kigali University in April 2023. The university provides undergraduate and postgraduate education as well as professional and career-oriented training, with an emphasis on practical learning, modern infrastructure, employability, innovation, and international education.

Faculties & Schools

• 1. School of Business and Economics
  The School of Business and Economics focuses on business administration, economics, accounting, finance, marketing, human resource management, strategic management, project management, and logistics and supply chain management. It prepares students for careers in business, banking and finance, entrepreneurship, management, accounting, marketing, public and private-sector organisations, and other commercial fields. The school also offers postgraduate programmes such as the Master of Business Administration (MBA) with different specialisations, including Strategic Management, Finance, Accounting, Human Resource Management, Project Management, Logistics & Supply Chain Management, and Marketing Management.
• 2. School of Computing, Informatics and Media Studies
  This school brings together computing, information technology, communication, journalism, media, and creative digital disciplines. It prepares students for careers in software and information technology, digital media, journalism, communication, film, animation, and related creative industries. Programmes include areas such as Mass Media & Communication and Film Production and Animation Studies, alongside computing and IT programmes.
• 3. School of Health Sciences
  The School of Health Sciences provides professional training in healthcare disciplines and emphasises practical and industry-oriented education. Its programmes include areas such as Medical Laboratory Sciences, Dental Therapy, Dental Technology, General Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, and Midwifery. The university supports practical healthcare training through its health facilities and clinical learning opportunities.
• 4. School of Education
  The School of Education prepares teachers, education professionals, administrators, and education leaders. Its programmes cover teacher education as well as educational planning and management. The school offers programmes including Master of Education in Planning and Management, while its broader education offerings support professional development for educators and education administrators.
• 5. School of Hospitality, Travel and Tourism Management
  This school focuses on hospitality, tourism, travel, events, culinary arts, and hotel management. It prepares students for careers in hotels, restaurants, tourism companies, travel organisations, event management, and related service industries. Programmes include Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management, Bachelor of Science in Travel & Tourism Management, Bachelor of Science in Events Management, Advanced Diploma in Culinary Arts, and postgraduate study in Hospitality Management.
• 6. School of Law
  The School of Law provides legal education and practical training for students pursuing careers in the legal profession, public administration, business, international organisations, and related fields. The university offers programmes in Law as well as specialised areas such as International Commercial and Investment Law, supported by practical legal training facilities including moot-court resources.
